Big Brother and the Hodling Company With Tyler Bancroft | List3n, Dreams Never Die & Said the Whale
Get an inside view on the recent turmoil at web3 music label Dreams Never Die
Hailing from Vancouver British Columbia, Tyler Bancroft has been playing in and shepherding his Juno-award winning band Said The Whale for the better part of two decades. He entered the web3 space via the social DAO – or decentralized autonomous organization – Friends with Benefits and the web3 label Dreams Never Die, whom he just joined as the Senior Vice President of web3 development – amidst a sudden restructure and tumult that came to a head in an aggressive town hall call.
Taking inspiration from Canada’s famously generous government-driven grants programs for the arts, Tyler also recently spearheaded the List3n project, which empowers the web3 community to give unconditional grants to artists.
We chatted about the launch of List3n – which just named its first grantee – joining Dreams Never Die in an especially turbulent time, the balancing act of a web3 culture that expects transparency and the fiduciary realities of running a business, and an uncertain future – for music and beyond – that will be increasingly embedded with artificial intelligence.
