“We’re missionaries, not mercenaries”: The Coin That's Funding Scientific Research May Soon Come to a TV Near You
Alyse Sue is vying for a spot on Killer Whales so she can tell the world of the positive impact that Transhuman Coin is making on human health and wellbeing
As the crypto market is heating up again and promises of quick riches are bringing the flies out to swarm, there are those in the blockchain ecosystem who have built tokens with utility that make a real impact to humanity and the environment.
Alyse Sue is one of them. The Australian co-founder of Transhuman Coin ($THC) has built a global community of 15,000 token holders who are funding scientific research to improve human health and wellbeing. The founding team includes Peter Xing, a data and AI lead at Microsoft, and Dr. Charles Awuzie, a cybersecurity expert. The fund is governed by a scientific advisory board.
While the project is off to a healthy start, Sue is hoping to take it up several levels with an opportunity to pitch on a reality TV show, Killer Whales, to give their mission wider exposure.
Produced by HELLO Labs and CoinMarketCap, Killer Whales is crypto’s answer to Shark Tank. The premise is that blockchain projects apply and are voted up by the HELLO community. The top three projects go on to appear on the show, where they are faced down by the whales, notable crypto investors and founders, who decide whether the project will sink or swim.
Transhuman Coin is currently in 4th position on the HELLO Labs leaderboard. Voting runs until June 1.
Those projects that impress the panel of whales win a mentoring package plus a promotional package from CoinMarketCap. With whales like Anthony Scaramucci, Internet celebrity Mario Nawfal and Bitget’s Gracy Chen, who advocates for more women founders in the web3 space, Sue and Transhuman Coin are going for it.
“Making it into the top three would be the dream, giving us the chance of a lifetime to pitch in Hollywood in front of crypto leaders,” Sue said. “This would help grow our community, continue our payment integrations and allow us to provide more equity-free funding to projects that have a positive impact on human health.”
HELLO Labs describes itself as “the future of crypto and entertainment, a Web3 native ecosystem that incubates, produces, funds and distributes original programming, games and NFTs,” according to its website. Their $HELLO Token is designed to give owners exclusive access to their ecosystem of shows and games, utility offerings that the company says it is evolving.
Transhuman Coin is marketed as the official currency for the transhumanist movement. Sue believes that the project’s power lies in its ability to connect the “individual pieces of transhumanism together, establishing a global Transhuman Network State that unites the movement across people, places and laws on-chain.”
Transhumanism is a philosophical and intellectual movement which believes that science and technology can transcend the limitations of human biology. Transhumanists are united around the core pillars of achieving super intelligence, super longevity and super wellbeing. Famous transhumanists include Ray Kurzweil, Nick Bostrom, Aubrey de Grey and Ethereum inventor Vitalik Buterin.
“We're already seeing what's happening with OpenAI developing Artificial General Intelligence, Elon Musk’s NeuraLink developing brain-computer interfaces for super intelligence, drugs for super longevity being developed and humanoid robots being built,” Sue said. She estimates there are 2 million individuals worldwide who ascribe to transhuman philosophy.
Transhuman Coin’s projects and collaborations include a device that can translate dreams, autonomous wheelchairs and funding a gene-based diagnostics company researching the anti-aging potential of edible plants. The community has also backed research into rare genetic diseases, educational initiatives and documentaries. All applications for funding and partnerships are voted on by the community of $THC holders.
